SALISBURY, N.C. – Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will once again offer engaging summer camps on a variety of topics ranging from babysitter certification, agriculture and graphic design to welding, mechatronics and video game design.

Each camp is designed to excite and inspire young minds as they explore subjects of interest to them, get an idea of what it’s like on a college campus, and consider possible career options. The program began as an introduction to the world of technology, and course offerings have grown each year based on feedback, as well as popular careers, hobbies and topics of interest. Among several new offerings this year is the T.A.L.K. program for high school students, which helps them prepare for senior project presentations and the world of work.

“These summer enrichment camps deliver fun and enlightening growth experiences. Students gain exposure to new ideas, make new friends, and possibly even identify career options for the future,” said Dr. Carol S. Spalding, president of Rowan-Cabarrus. “They have so much fun that they don’t even realize they are learning important transferable skills and concepts they will use to succeed in the workforce later.”

The 2019 camps include:
• Ages 8-11 – Drone Adventures; Battle Royale: Make Your First “Fortnite”-Style Video Game; “Minecraft” Modders: Virtual Reality: The Future is Now; Make Your First 3D Video Game; and “Roblox” Makers
